Heart's Home

Heart's Home is an international organization. If you want to get technical, it is an ecclesiastical movement within the Catholic Church. Twenty years ago, a young French priest, Father Thierry de Roucy, received inspiration in prayer to create Heart's Home (Points-Coeur). Within a few days, he happened to meet a gracious Brazilian bishop, and the first Heart's Home was established in Brazil in 1990.

Today there are 35 houses all around the world (and constantly expanding). They are simple refuges in impoverished areas and composed of 5-7 young volunteers like myself. The goal is to be nothing more than a loving and hopeful presence in the midst of suffering. Our aim as volunteers is to be true and sincere friends. Human beings are made for relationships. It is our belief that human dignity is found in being able to receive and share compassion with another person.
